What to include in your letter to your Member of Parliament:

  • Basics: address line, date and begin with “Dear Senator” - for more information about correct salutations click here.
  • Write about why you thought the Senate Inquiry was important and why you think the Government should implement the recommendations in the report. You can check out a summary of important recommendations here and the full report here.
  • Write about your own personal experience with bargaining and how it has impacted you, your work and your colleagues.
  • Given it’s Christmas, write about how going into another Christmas, new year and school summer holidays without an agreement or pay rise in three years will affect you and your family this time of year.
  • Ask them to push the Government (their colleagues) to implement the recommendations in the majority report from the Senate Inquiry.
